I first want to start by thanking all of you for your patience, as this piece of content took quite a bit longer to finish than my usual work.

I decided to cover this highly requested topic of “how do I lose weight without trashing my metabolism?” in a video format to make the information more digestible and have a way to provide visual aids to better articulate the concepts discussed.

The first ~50 minutes are available to all subscribers. The full 3.5-hour version is available to paid subscribers only ($15 per month or $99 for a yearly subscription).

A written summary, as well as meal plans, a guide on tracking biofeedback and a video guide on how to use Cronometer can be found after the “timestamps” section.

P.s. Listening at 1.25 speed might be more enjoyable for some :)

Even if you’re currently happy with your weight, you will still find the information presented relevant, as I’m covering far more than just how to lose fat, including:

  • Cellular respiration - how it works & the role of vitamins, minerals and thyroid hormones

  • High-fat diets & being a “fat burner” - how they can make us fatter and sicker

    • …especially in those already overweight, whose fat cells constantly flood the blood with fat, creating a high-fat diet from within

  • Why researchers agree that the “calories in, calories out” model doesn’t explain the obesity epidemic

  • What determines whether we store the calories we eat as fat?

  • How your metabolism controls whether you use calories for energy, store them as fat or offload them as heat

  • A research-backed explanation of obesity - it isn’t caused by “sloth” or “gluttony”

  • Research showing that many obese people eat less than lean people

  • Why “eat less, move more” fails and leads to rebound weight gain

  • Proof that we’re not eating more than we used to

  • How extreme dieting and intense exercise can seriously harm both physical and mental health, something that the fitness world ignores

  • Why many personal trainers don’t have your best interest in mind

  • How to boost your metabolism and improve the conversion of calories to energy

  • The fitness world turned exercise into punishment - here’s how to make movement fun

  • Why when you eat might matter just as much as what you eat

  • How the sun makes us skinny

  • Research & anecdotes showing that this gentle approach works

  • When, if ever, a calorie deficit makes sense…and how to go about it

What if I told you that the same rate of fat loss that I needed to starve and kill myself at the gym for in my early 20s, I can now achieve while being mostly sedentary, eating lots of food throughout the day (including sugar, dairy, and meat), and feeling great and not deprived, as a now 30 year old?

This is not a marketing catch. I have no magic bullet supplement or hack, and no extreme diet along the lines of “eat just meat and you’ll lose fat” or “eat just fruit.”

The way to get there is, in reality, boring, slow and gradual. It’s achieved by understanding the basics of our physiology and internal chemical reactions, and working with the body’s biochemistry to slowly increase the metabolic rate.

This makes losing fat, improving your body composition, and keeping fat off permanently possible.

My main objective with this video is that you walk away with “dietary x-ray vision,” understanding what happens to food when it enters our bodies, how we process the potential energy found in foods (calories), what factors lead to fat gain, and finally, how to practically go about dropping fat in a sustainable way.
