hi kaya

I would like to ask you what do you think about fasting!?

just today I spoke with one of the world's leading experts on the topic. Doctor Filonov.

He claims to have treated thousands of people and freed them from hypothyroidism drugs.

come and see about it?

I'm asking because I respect your way of thinking and your insight.

Thank you!

Hey Paolo, I am generally not a fan of it. There are reasons why fasting can have some transient positive effects, but it's not because it's beneficial (in my opinion). If someone's intestine is highly irritated by the foods they eat, or if they are experiencing lots of oxidative stress because their body lacks the co-factors for metabolizing the foods they eat at a high rate, then fasting can make them feel better and temporarily improve blood markers by taking the inflammatory burden off the body. But it is not solving the issue, just masking it. Fasting has a negative effect on thyroid function & consequently steroid synthesis. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1426938/, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1246209/). As per autophagy, in a healthy body, thyroid hormones ensure that autophagy takes place, without causing the unnecessary and excessive recycling of cell components that fasting can cause. Thank you so much for this Kaya, so appreciate your content! Had 2 questions, what would you do about the water if you were traveling somewhere for 1 month as a family (4 kids). The tap water in the airbnb is obviously not filtered and clean. Would you buy bottled water? is there type of filter that could be used? What would you do?

Also for kids/teens who love to craft with polyfill (polyester filling) or knit with polyester yarn, is it ok to be having this in the bedroom or touching it with hands for hours/day? what would you recommend? how do we let them enjoy this craft but also keep them protected?

Hello Kaya, I am glad to finally subscribe to your content and read these informative articles. Some points I wanted to share:

I found it interesting to think about body adaptations and fertility - if there’s adversity in early age, body wants to start reproducing asap. However, if there’s adversity later, after puberty (eg sever stress including not eating enough) body doesn’t prioritise reproduction and that goes out of the window.

As always, it’s annoying that Western medicine always addresses the symptoms and rarely the root cause.

Lastly, your article just confirmed again and again how important thyroid is. Sadly, my own husband chose conventional treatment for his thyroid cancer and just had it removed. I would love to see an article talking about increased number of people living without thyroid and if there’s anything one could do to support the body in these cases. (Apologies if you wrote about it already, please point me to that direction). Thanks again for all you do.

Hey Tamara, I have been fluoride-free for years and what has helped my teeth more than fluoride ever did is keeping my calcium intake high (lots of milk), extra vitamin K2 (I use LifeExtension Super K), swishing with xylitol and coconut oil, mouth taping at night (to prevent mouth breathing and my mouth drying out at night), and chewing mastic gum to increase saliva production. Cavities are often related to a low metabolic rate, low CO2, and low saliva production. Fluoride prevents cavities by being antibacterial, so I would look into other ways to keep the bacteria at bay. Xylitol, coconut oil, and saliva are all antibacterial. Swishing with salt water after meals should help too. Bacteria from the gut can translocate into the mouth, so things that help against excess gut bacteria (like the carrot salad) should help too.
